Similar to Pests and Benefactors, Organic Gardening is a call to eliminate the use of harmful chemicals in the garden. Major strides have recently been made to virtually eliminate the need for such artificial additives to your natural environment. Maybe some of you will disagree, but not using chemicals is the route for me and I hope that the majority of you will heartily agree.
Time is probably the only obstacle to our mastering the recent organic techniques as each year requires expanding how we use them. Companion Planting and Interplanting are being tested more and more and the literature directly addresses this concept in depth (see Bibliography). You simply need to compare what you're planting with what's recommended to go along with it. It's not particularly sophisticated but it does take some concentration to get it correct.
Remember, compost and other natural additives (manure, mulches, etc.) are the ideal. Anything beyond that should get very serious consideration before proceeding.
